What is DMI?
Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) improves automatic postural responses and promotes progress towards developmental milestones. DMI provokes a specific active motor response from the child in response to defined dynamic exercises prescribed by the therapist. DMI simulates neuroplasticity to facility new neuronal connections and development of motor milestones.
The focus of DMI includes:
1. Gross motor skills
2. Gradual progression
3. Alignment and Postural Control
4. Range of Motion
5. Balance
6. Functional movements
7. Somatosensory Development
8. Modifying tone, primitive reflexes, and abnormal patterns of movement
9. Global Development

What is electrical stimulation?
The two main methods for pediatric e-stim includes TASES (task-specific electrical stimulation) and NISE-stim (non-invasive spinal electrical stimulation).
TASES:
TASES uses electrodes placed on motor points of muscles to facilitate muscle activation and firing during functional activities, such as crawling, sitting, standing, or walking. This is a great tool for kiddos with CP, toe walking, torticollis, and hemiplegia..

NISE-stim:
NISE-stim uses safe electrical currents delivered through electrodes placed over the spinal cord and specific areas of the body to stimulate muscle movement, enhance neuromuscular coordination, and improve motor, sensory and autonomic functions. This is a great tool for kiddos with SMA, Spina Bifida, post-SDR, or other neuro-muscular diagnoses.
